Woman accused of leading twenty Garda cars on M50 chase sent for trial

On March 1st a young woman livestreamed a getaway from twenty Garda cars, which ran through the M50, and ultimately resulted in a helicopter being called.

24-year-old Gemma Greene had been charged in relation with a pursuit of a Mercedes from Ballymun to Bray.

The incident was widely shared on social media in early March.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said Greene must face trial on indictment.

This will result in the case being held in a higher court, with tougher sentencing powers.

Greene was subsequently sent for trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

She has not yet indicated how she will plead.

The young woman will face her hearing on July 30th of this year.

Greene has also surrendered her passport to gardaí.
