French President Emmanuel Macron slapped across face by man

President of France Emmanuel Macron was slapped across the face by a man while on a tour to Southeast France.

Footage from BFM News shows Macron approaching a barrier to greet a man.

Instead of shaking the Presidents hand, the man slapped Macron across his face.

Security forces for the President quickly intervened, and two people were subsequently arrested.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:15pm (Irish time).

The tour was an attempt for Macron to “take the country’s pulse.”

He is expected to seek reelection in next years Presidential race, but polls show him with just a narrow lead ahead of Marine Le Pen.

This tour has over twelve stops for Macron across a two-month period, where he will be hoping to further expand his lead with Le Pen.
