Three-month-old baby dies following dog attack in Waterford

A three-month-old baby girl has died following a fatal attack from a dog in Waterford.

The baby was attacked in the early hours of this morning, according to gardaí.


The incident took place at the babys home in Clashmore, where she sustained serious head injuries.

Emergency services attended the scene and attempted to treat the baby.

However, she was immediately taken to Cork University Hospital, where she passed away shortly after 3:15am.


Gardaí in Dungarvan are investigating the fatal incident.

“Gardaí and paramedics treated the infant at the scene until she was taken to Cork University Hospital. She was pronounced deceased a short time later,” a garda statement read.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau will carry out an examination on the scene later today.

Gardaí are appealing to the public to respect the privacy of the family at this time.
