Delta Air Lines flight diverted after passenger attempts to breach cockpit

A Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to Nashville has been diverted to New Mexico after a passenger attempted to breach the cockpit.

The passenger was subdued by cabin crew and other passengers.

Delta said the flight had 162 passengers and 6 cabin crew members on board.

When the plane landed in Albuquerque, the passenger was removed from the flight and taken into custody.

The FBI in Albuquerque announced that “the FBI is responding to a report of a diverted flight.”

“There is no threat to the public at this time.”

Police or investigators have not said whether the passenger was armed.

The motive of the attempted attack is not currently known either.

Nobody was injured during the events and after the passenger was taken into custody, the flight continued on its path to Tennessee.
