Search operation underway after car collides with garda vehicle

A search operation is underway following an incident yesterday morning in Limerick where a car failed to stop for gardaí and collided with a garda patrol vehicle during a “managed containment operation”.

The collision occurred when the car drove into a ditch and then attempted a reverse manoeuvre but while reversing out of the ditch, the car subsequently collided with a garda vehicle.

Following the collision, which occurred in Murroe village, the driver of the car fled the scene on foot while the passenger remained inside the car.

Gardaí reported no injuries following the incident and investigations remain ongoing.
