Two men charged after shot fired at gardaí in Cork

Two men have been charged following an incident in Cork last Thursday where a shot was fired at gardaí.

The incident occurred during a search operation at Rochestown Road where a number of weapons were recovered, which included firearms, ammunition, petrol bombs as well as axes and cleavers.

While officers attached to the Cork City Detective Unit, as well as the Armed Support Unit, attempted to gain access to the premises, a shot was discharged by the occupants of the premises. However, no injuries were reported following the incident.

In total, five arrests were made following the search with two men and a woman being released without charge.

The two men that were charged in connection to the incident are due to appear before Cork District Court this evening.
