Over 250 arrests made following Berlin protests

Over 250 arrests have been made in Berlin following May Day rallies that resulted in violence.

Police officers were assaulted with stones and bottles while bins were set ablaze on the streets of Berlin.

The demonstrations involved approximately 30,000 people across the political spectrum with the majority of them passing off peacefully.

The violence began when far-left protesters were pulled out of the crowd for failing to adhere to health regulations.

As a result, protesters pelted glass bottles and stones at police while wooden pallets and bins were set on fire.

The German police union stated that approximately 50 officers of the 5,600 that were deployed were injured following the demonstrations.
