Arrest warrant issued for Gerry Hutch in relation to Regency Hotel shooting

The High Court has issued a European Arrest Warrant for Gerry Hutch ‘The Monk’ in relation to the 2016 Regency Hotel shooting where Kinahan gang member David Byrne was shot dead.

The warrant was issued following an application from the Director of Public Prosecutions calling for Hutch’s arrest.

The 58-year-old’s extradition is being sought by investigators in Ballymun who have been investigating the Regency Hotel shooting for the past five years.

It is understood that Hutch has a house in Spain as well as other European countries. It is believed that the Regency Hotel shooting was a retaliation attack on the Kinahan gang for the 2015 murder of Gary Hutch (Gerry Hutch’s nephew) which occurred in Spain. The senior figure of the Kinahan gang ‘Daniel Kinahan’ is also believed to have been the target for the shooting.

When arrested, Gerry Hutch can either challenge the extradition or voluntarily return to Ireland to face trial.
