Greek crime journalist shot dead by gunmen

Greek crime journalist ‘George Karaivaz’ was shot dead near his home in Athens by two gunmen on Friday.

The murder, committed by two gunmen on a motorbike, is suspected by police to have been carefully planned; however, a motive has yet to be discovered.

An examination of the scene found at least 12 bullet casings as multiple rounds were fired at the journalist.

In response to this murder, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen tweeted “Murdering a journalist is a despicable, cowardly act,”.

An investigation into the murder remains underway.
