AstraZeneca has paused their vaccine trials in children while regulators investigate reports of post-vaccination blood clots in adults.
Although no safety concerns have arisen according to the University of Oxford, more information is being awaited from the Medicines and Healthcare products and Regulatory Agency (MHRA) before further vaccinations are administered.
The University of Oxford stated, “Parents and children should continue to attend all scheduled visits and can contact the trial sites if they have any questions.”
Earlier this week, a European Medicines Agency official discovered a link between the vaccine and the reported blood clots which have sparked an investigation by the WHO and the MHRA.
Both the WHO and the EMA have stated that they will publish their findings later this week.
