Taoiseach spokesperson stated Cork boxing club visit was work-related

A spokesperson for Taoiseach Miche├íl Martin has stated that Mr Martin’s attendance at a Cork boxing club event last December was for work reasons despite a ban on indoor gatherings being in place at the time.

Mr Martin had attended the event at the Glen Boxing Club in Blackpool to present the Paddy Martin Cup to Irish boxer and garda Christina Desmond.

The event, which took place on the 12th of December, had an attendance of at least 12 people and occurred while Level 3 restrictions were in place which meant indoor gatherings were not permitted.

In relation to his attendance, the spokesperson for the Taoiseach stated, “This was work, and not a personal event.”
