COVID-19: 591 new confirmed cases in Ireland

Health officials have confirmed a further 591 cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

Eight further people diagnosed with the virus have also died.

72% of cases reported are under 45-years-old.

The county breakdown is as follows: 288 in Dublin, 40 in Kildare, 30 in Meath, 28 in Westmeath, 27 in Laois and the remaining 178 cases are spread across 19 other counties.

12.1% of the population have received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, 4.8% of the population have been fully vaccinated.
