Three people abscond mandatory hotel quarantine in Dublin

A search operation is underway after three people absconded from a mandatory hotel quarantine facility in Dublin a day after arriving in Ireland.

The hotel that the three people were supposed to be quarantined in was the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry which was being secured by members of the Defence Forces and a private security contractor.

The Department of Health stated that gardaí will investigate any suspected offences and enforce these laws.

Those who leave hotel quarantine without being granted permission face a fine of up to €2,000 or a month in prison.
