With the current Level 5 restrictions expected to be reviewed next week, it is unlikely that hairdressers, pubs and restaurants will reopen after the 5th of April. It is believed that this sector will reopen by mid-Summer at the earliest.
In regards to the reopening of this sector, a source stated “I’m afraid they’re off the table for now, until mid-Summer really. They are not in the running at all for next Tuesday’s announcement.”
Describing the virus situation as “very fragile”, Taoiseach Micheál Martin stated, “The Level 5 restrictions have worked effectively to bring numbers down very, very significantly from where they were.”
“But the numbers are still high in one way too, and the fundamental reason for that is we’re dealing with a variant that is highly transmissible and more dangerous.”
