At least 15 people dead and 400 missing following fire at Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh

The UN refugee agency has stated that at least 15 people are dead and another 400 are missing following a fire that broke out at a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh.

The fire spread over four sections of the camp which contained approximately 124,000 people and required over 1,000 Red Cross staff along with fire services and volunteers to fully extinguish the blaze.

The UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Johannes Van der Klaauw stated that there are reports of over 550 injuries with 45,000 people displaced.

The cause of the blaze is currently being investigated by Bangladeshi officials while rescue operations remain underway for survivors.
