Under new plans currently being discussed by ministers, construction is to resume from the 5th of April.
This follows a lobbying push from the Construction Industry Federation who wrote to TD’s warning them that the government is being blamed for the ongoing closure of construction and that HSE figures show that it is safe to fully reopen.
They also warned of the political implications that the closure will cause and stated that the housing crisis would be extended for at least three years.
The current plans that are under discussion will only see home-building resuming from April 5th and not construction for commercial premises.
