Nearly half of British adults have received first vaccine dose

In the first 100 days of the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history, nearly half of the British adult population have received their first vaccine dose.

According to the British Department of Health and Social Care, over 25 million people have received their first vaccine jab with 1.7 million receiving their second vaccine jab.

MP’s have promised that all adults will be offered the vaccine by the end of July. Officials have stated that 95% of people over the age of 65 have received their first dose with 9 in 10 of those who are clinically extremely vulnerable also receiving their first dose.

Minister for Health Matt Hancock stated that Britain is ahead of schedule by offering the first dose to all over-50s by the 15th of April. In total, the UK has vaccinated 25,273,226 people between the 8th of December and the 16th of March.
