Following the discovery of a man’s body that was found in a flat in Cork, gardaà have requested a post-mortem to be carried out as a precaution.
The man, aged in his 60s, was found dead by relatives at his home in Mallow yesterday evening.
The man lived alone and had not been seen for several days. His body was moved to Cork University Hospital to establish a cause of death as he had received some injuries.
An examination of the scene revealed that there had been no sign of a forced entry or a struggle in the flat.
Door-to-door inquiries are also underway by gardaà along with the gathering of CCTV footage to establish when the man was last seen alive. The course of the investigation is to be determined by the results of the post-mortem examination.
