At least eight dead following car bomb attack in Afghanistan

At least eight people are dead and 47 injured following a car bomb attack in the Herat province of Afghanistan.

The explosion, which destroyed 14 houses, occurred late last night and left many people critically injured. The majority of the injured were civilians with one of the dead being an Afghan Security Forces member.

Of the injured 47 people, 11 of them were also members of the Afghan Security Forces.

The death toll is expected to rise due to the number of injured people being in critical condition from the blast.

The UN Secretary Council has condemned an alarming increase of attacks in Afghanistan where civilians, the judiciary, the media, healthcare and humanitarian workers have been targetted.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
