Vaccination of high-risk people with chronic illnesses set to begin this week in Ireland

Head of the Health Service Executive Paul Reid has said vaccinations of those people considered high risk because of serious illness will start in the middle of this week.

He said it will begin with 10,000 doses of the vaccine being given to those with neurological issues and disabilities aged between 16 and 69.

Reid said the HSE is working through a clear list to identify those most at risk with chronic illnesses.

He stated it could be a high number of around 150,000 people who are considered to be at very high risk.
