Three PSNI officers injured after car is rammed by truck

Three PSNI officers have been injured after their car was rammed by a truck in Armagh.

One of the officers was taken to hospital as a precaution while the other two officers were treated at the scene.

The incident occurred at a commercial site on Edenappa Road in Jonesborough during a joint operation with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs officers.

During the operation, a tipper truck was used to ram the police car while those inside the truck attempted to flee.

A 57-year-old man was arrested on a number of offences which included obstruction and fraudulent evasion of duty on fuel.

Describing the act as cowardly and reckless, Superintendent Norman Haslett stated that the PSNI are liaising with gardaĆ­ in the investigation.

The truck crossed into the Republic of Ireland and was displaying the number plate LDo8 POP. Anyone with information is asked to contact the PSNI.
