New figures show that there are less than 500 people in hospital with Covid-19 which is the country’s lowest levels since New Year’s Eve.
As of 8pm last night, there were 494 patients in hospital with Covid-19. The number of people receiving treatment in ICU has also decreased with 115 patients last night.
This is quite a significant decrease since a peak of 2,020cases in mid-January.
Announcing that hospital admissions have reduced from an average of 40 a day to 25 a day in the space of two weeks, Professor Philip Nolan described this decrease as a sign that this period of the pandemic is coming to an end.
