Man arrested for firework attack on Garda officer

GardaĆ­ have arrested a man in his 30s in relation to a firework attack on a Garda officer at the lockdown protests in Dublin during the weekend.

Social media footage reveals the man firing the rocket cannon firework, which can shoot up to eight missiles, at the garda officer who suffered a perforated eardrum.

As part of a criminal investigation, a house in south Dublin was searched yesterday which led to the seizure of fireworks as well as other items.

The man, who was arrested this morning, is currently being detained at Irishtown Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be questioned for up to three days.
