Tánaiste Leo Varadkar stated that he is confident that 80% of adults will receive at least one vaccination by the end of June.
Stating that 98% of the job was to vaccinate everyone over 60 and under 60 with chronic conditions, Varadkar added that vaccinations will put the government in a position to make decisions that are unable to be made now.
Based on assumptions in regards to vaccine supply and approval, Varadkar is confident that vaccines will rise to 250,000 a week in April and up to 300,000 a week after that.
He also stated that the government is not keen on delaying vaccines as variants may arise from partial vaccinations while some people are not fully vaccinated.
It is also expected that the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccination will be approved in April.
