Junior Cert likely cancelled as plans for Leaving Cert under discussion

The Junior Cert examinations are likely to be cancelled to allow for a greater focus on facilitating the Leaving Cert.

Cabinet Ministers are to discuss the situation of Leaving Cert students, who are expected to be given the choice of a modified version of calculated grades and sitting the exams in June.

Oral, practical and performance assessments are likely to go ahead in the coming weeks but will be facilitated in different formats.

Junior Cert students are likely to undergo alternative assessment arrangements. A formal announcement on the format that will be used is to be made later today or tomorrow.
