Over 85s to begin receiving Covid-19 vaccinations

People over the age of 85 are to begin receiving their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination today.

This group of people will be receiving the Pfizer and BioNtech vaccine which will be administered at local GP practices or in 40 vaccination centres across the country.

Over 80,000 vaccinations are to be delivered this week which is almost double what we have been doing on a weekly basis according to HSE CEO Paul Reid.

Yesterday, approximately 3,000 nurses and GPs received their first dose of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine.
