Dog shot and killed following drugs search in Dublin

A dog was shot and killed by gardaí following a drugs search in Dublin City Centre yesterday. A search was launched by detectives at Coburg Place, Dublin 1 as part of an ongoing operation against drug dealing in the area.

Gardaí searched the house with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit when a garda officer was attacked by a dog in the house.

An official garda firearm was used on the dog as a result which led to the dog receiving veterinary treatment but later dying from its injuries.

A man in his 40s was arrested following the search and is currently being detained at Coolock Garda Station. According to gardaí, drugs with a street value of approximately €5,000 was seized following the search.
