The government is considering a further tightening of international travel restrictions. This decision comes after Britain tightened its borders to prevent the spread of new Covid-19 variants.
Those arriving from high-risk countries will be required to quarantine in hotels. Minister for Transport ‘Eamon Ryan’ stated that more countries, apart from Brazil and South Africa, are to be added to the mandatory quarantine list.
In regards to the reopening of the country, Taoiseach Michéal Martin stated that the government would take a more conservative and cautious response upon reopening.
Although Covid-19 infections are decreasing, the Taoiseach stated that they were not low enough to begin reopening the country.
