In order to administer Covid-19 vaccinations, there will be up to 40 large vaccination centres placed across the state according to HSE Executive Chief Paul Reid.
Mr Reid stated that some vaccination centres could potentially have up to 50 lanes or areas for people to be vaccinated, with others having up to 20.
New facilities are being developed in order to administer the vaccination to 483,000 people over the age of 70.
Any elderly people who are immobile at home have been assured that transport will be arranged while the HSE consider how vaccines can be administered at home according to Mr Reid.
Recent expert advice led to a change on operational plans last week, which led to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to be used over the AstraZeneca vaccine. Mr Reid assured that this would not result in significant delays.
