At least seven people are dead with over 100 missing following a flash flood in India that was triggered after a glacier burst. The incident occurred in India’s northern Uttarakhand state.
There are fears that more than 30 workers at the NTPC hydro project, which is stationed on the Dhauliganga River, are trapped in a tunnel which became full of debris from the flash flood according to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.
Up to 50 workers were rescued from the second tunnel of the plant.
Rescue operations are currently underway and are being conducted by the National Disaster Response Force along with the Indian army. More NDRF members are expected to arrive on Monday.
