Man arrested and charged after ramming car into garda vehicle

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s following an incident yesterday in Donegal where a garda vehicle was struck.

The incident occurred near Tullyearl in Donegal Town when gardaí signalled the driver of a jeep to pull over after driving in a dangerous manner.

Refusing to stop, the man drove away from gardaí and hit a garda vehicle. One garda officer was hospitalised at Letterkenny University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The GSOC was notified as a gardaí firearm was used in the incident. The man was arrested after his jeep went off the road near the Tullyearl roundabout.

There were four other passengers in the jeep, all of which were arrested and later released. The driver and the passengers were uninjured. The driver of the jeep appeared before Donegal Town District Court this morning. Investigations are ongoing.
