A Status Yellow snow and ice warning, which has been issued for the entire country, will come into effect at 6pm this evening and will remain in effect until midday tomorrow.
This will bring hail, sleet and snow which will lead to hazardous icy conditions. The UK Met Office also issued a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Derry, Fermanagh and Tyrone.
ISPCA has issued a warning to animal owners to keep them indoors, with larger animals such as horses and farm animals to be brought inside a stable or shed.
After this wintry weekend, the country will begin to warm up from Monday.
