The Department of Foreign Affairs has been made aware of an incident at a Swiss ski resort where an Irish man was killed.
The 29-year-old man, who is understood to have been living in Switzerland, died following an avalanche at Col des Gentianes at Siviez near Nendaz. The Department of Foreign Affairs stated that it was ready to provide consular assistance if requested.
A separate incident saw a 38-year-old British man killed in an avalanche at a nearby resort in Verbier, near Geneva.
One person was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries while eight other people escaped uninjured.
