Twitter suspends account of Marjorie Taylor Greene

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has been temporarily suspended from Twitter after expressing support for QAnon conspiracy theories.

Ms Greene, whose account was suspended “without explanation”, condemned big tech companies for silencing conservative views.

She received a ban that prohibits her from interacting with content on the site for twelve hours.

Twitter has banned over 70,000 accounts associated with QAnon after stating that it is taking action against online behaviour “that has the potential to lead to offline harm”.

This action taken by Twitter comes more than a week after Donald Trump had his account banned from Twitter, citing “the risk of further incitement of violence” following the riots that occurred at the US Capitol this month.
