The government has requested an early delivery of the AstraZeneca vaccination so that it is ready to be administered in GP clinics, Pharmacies and vaccination centres as soon as its approval this month.
The vaccine, which has been described as a game-changer in the country’s vaccination programme, will be easier to store; as well as the fact that Ireland is entitled to 3.3 million doses of it.
Discussions are underway to ensure that early deliveries are made so that vaccinations can begin with immediate effect after its approval, which is expected to be in two weeks time.
