Growing concerns that hospitality sector will remain closed until Easter

There are growing concerns that the hospitality sector in Ireland will remain closed until Easter at the earliest following a meeting between representatives from the hospitality sector and a number of government ministers where they were left with the sense that the easing of restrictions will take longer than expected.

Ministers did not give any specific timeline for reopening the hospitality sector which left many expecting the closure to last until Summer.

With 17% of the population expected to be vaccinated by the end of March, the figure falls short of what would be needed to reopen restaurants and pubs.
