With the AstraZeneca vaccination expected to be approved by the European Medicines Agency on the 29th of January, the development would allow up to 100,000 vaccinations per week in February according to Tánaiste Leo Varadkar.
This week alone, there are approximately 50,000 vaccinations expected to be completed with 700,000 expected to completed by the end of March. These initial vaccinations will be available for the priority groups; those in long-term residential care (both staff and resident), frontline healthcare workers and those over the age of 70.
By the end of September, the government plans to vaccinate almost 4 million people according to Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.
