The black box of the crashed Sriwijaya Air jet has been recovered by Indonesian Navy divers which will assist investigators to determine what caused the Boing 737-500 to crash into the Java Sea shortly after it took off from Jakarta on Saturday.
Navy Chief Admiral Yudo Margono stated that the two recorders were found buried under the seabed under tons of wreckage from the plane which was carrying 62 people on board.
The search, which took place in an area just north of Jakarta consisted of 3,600 rescue personnel, 13 helicopters, 54 large ships and 20 small boats.
Searchers have sent 74 body bags of human remains to police identification experts to which family members have been providing DNA samples to for tests.
The US National Transportation Safety Board are to join the investigation of the crash.
