Taoiseach Micheál Martin is to give a state apology to the survivors of the mother and baby homes in the Dáil this week.

This will follow the publication of the Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation Report which is expected to contain confirmation that 9,000 infants died in the institutions.

The report is expected to be approved by the Cabinet on Tuesday morning after it’s presented by the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth ‘Roderic O’Gorman’.
