Investigations are ongoing after a Sriwijaya Air aircraft lost contact after taking off from the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Saturday.
The Boeing 737-500, thought to have 62 people on board, went missing shortly after 7:20am (2:30pm local time) just after taking off.
According to Flightradar24, which is an aircraft tracking service, the flight lost more than 10,000 feet in height in less than one minute.
Rescue agency official ‘Agus Haryono’ stated that debris was found in the waters north of Jakarta; however, it has not been confirmed that the debris came from the flight. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
