Four dead after US Capitol is stormed by Trump supporters

Four people have died after the US Capitol was stormed by Trump supporters as Democrat Joe Biden’s victory over Trump was confirmed.

In a display of loyalty for their president, thousands of Trump supporters broke through police barriers, smashed windows and mounted inauguration stands made for Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony.

Waving American and confederate flags, the supporters entered the domed office and moved room by room, which led to members of congress being ordered to take shelter as a shoot-out took place with Capitol police in one of the chambers.

A woman was shot dead by Capitol police, as well as three others who died due to medical emergencies according to Washington DC police chief Robert Contee.
