Man dies following assault in Kildare

An investigation is currently underway after a man, aged in his late 20s, was killed following an assault in the Allenwood area of Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Gardaí initially responded to a public order incident at Allenwood South at approximately 12:45am.

It was reported that a silver Audi car was involved in a collision with a red Renault Traffic van.

Both vehicles were detained for forensic examinations. At approximately 3:49am, gardaí responded to another incident at Allenwood south where an unconscious man was discovered on the road being administered CPR.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigations are ongoing.
