Non-essential retail closes again under new restrictions

From 6pm this evening, non-essential retail will close under new restrictions that have been aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19.

Gyms and swimming pools will also close as part of the new restrictions. These restrictions are expected to remain in effect until the end of January.

No social gatherings will be permitted, all household visits will be banned and a 5km limit will be placed on travel.

Defending the government’s decision, Justice Minister Helen McEntee stated that these new restrictions will lay the ground for the vaccine which is to be rolled out in a few months.
