Cabinet to consider more restrictions as virus situation is “deteriorating quite quickly”

With the current situation of the virus being described as “deteriorating quite quickly” by the Minister of Public Health and Expenditure Michael McGrath.

In regards to the virus situation, McGrath said that we are at a point where we can see the horizon with the introduction of the vaccine.

A decision in relation to Level 5 restrictions is to be made today and told to the public immediately.

In regards to how the government’s decisions have impacted people’s day-to-day lives, McGrath stated, “We fully appreciate the impact that any of the decisions we have made to date and any future decisions have on the day-to-day lives of people” while adding, “We are deeply conscious of that, but the first responsibility of any government is to protect its people, and we will always be motivated solely by the desire to protect public health and save lives.”
