At least 10 climbers have died following a series of avalanches in the Alborz mountain range, north of Tehran in Iran.
The Red Crescent has rescued 14 people so far after 20 teams were deployed but at least seven are still missing.
In the past few days, there has been treacherous weather in the area which at one point, stranded 100 people up high at a ski resort after a cable car broke down on Friday.
Among the 10 people who died was a political activist, an academic, a doctor and a mountaineering instructor.
Rescue operations are expected to resume today.
