First delivery of Covid-19 vaccines arrive in the country

The first delivery of Covid-19 vaccines will arrive in the country today as vaccinations are expected to begin this week.

As announced by Cabinet earlier this week, there will be 10,000 doses of the vaccination delivered to Ireland after Christmas.

The first to receive the vaccine will be for residents of long-term care facilities over the age of 65 and frontline healthcare workers who are in direct contact with patients.

Those over the age of 85 and 70 will be next to receive the vaccine which will be followed by healthcare workers and those aged between 65 and 69.
