Within a time period of six hours, a man has been arrested by gardaĆ for suspected drink driving.
The man was arrested in Mallow, Co Cork during a 24-hour focus on road safety between the 17th and 18th of December. As a result, four arrests were made for drink-driving offences and one for drug driving.
Over the Christmas period, there will be a large emphasis on detecting those who drive after consuming alcohol or drugs until the 5th of January.
Head of the Garda Roads Policing Unit in North Cork ‘Inspector Joe O’Connor’ stated, āGardaĆ will continue to enforce all road traffic legislation and try to reduce the risk of collisions on the roads. We will focus on driving under the influence, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and holding a mobile phone whilst driving.ā
