Woman dies following hit-and-run incident in Galway

Investigations are ongoing after a woman, aged in her 50s, was killed following a hit-and-run incident in Galway yesterday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:30pm on the R336 Barna to Spiddal Road in Furbo.

The driver of the vehicle who struck the woman failed to remain at the scene.

The woman was taken to Galway University Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Her body is to undergo a post-mortem examination at a later date. GardaĆ­ are appealing to anyone with information or dash cam footage of the incident to contact Salthill Garda Station at 91 514720.
