Man in his 80s dies following Dublin house fire

A man, aged in his 80s, has died following a house fire that occurred in south Dublin on the Dundrum Road shortly after 4pm this afternoon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital as a precaution.

The elderly man’s body is to undergo a post-mortem examination at St Columcille’s Hospital.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing; however, foul play is not suspected to be the cause.
