As the Level 5 lockdown comes to an end from today, non-essential retail, churches, gyms and hairdressers have reopened. The reopening of the country has seen large queues forming outside shops since early this morning.
With the reopening of the country, health experts continue to warn that Covid-19 infections will continue to rise if social contacts are not minimised.
Assistant Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn stated, “Just because you can do things tomorrow doesn’t mean you should,” while adding, “now is not the time to be socialising with friends”.
As restaurants reopen on Friday, the government has warned that bookings for office parties and businesses-related events will not be allowed, as well as multiple bookings.
